To be prepared for my long journey on the mainland I should go out and test my equipment. So I packed a tent, sleeping stuff and food on my bike trailer end started an overnight trip on a sunny day to China beach, named after a creak nearby. I came through the Jorden River Park where a lot of surfers have been. The campground itself was not opened, what means, there is no drinking water and no fees to pay
I build up my tent, made my dinner on a fire and went down to the beach. There were some surfers and big waves. It was nice to enjoy the sunset and to watch the surfers on their boards. One guy just build up a shelter with a tarp and enjoyed the night at the beach. That is a nice way of life, probably part of the surfers lifestyle.
The night was short and I went back. Nothing unusual happened on the way back. The conclusion of the trip is simple, I have nearly everything to start. And I will get really strong leg muscles.
After that I went around the area and saw some more birds and did another hike to Mt Quimper. I had a nice view to Mt Baker, which is located somewhere in the U.S.. It is a really high mountain, nothing around can attract attention. One more highlight was a little snake on my up to the hill. It was a Garter snake, small, black and with yellow strips on it. Nothing dangerous, but nice to see!

Now there is my next longer trip ahead, I will go out for a multi day trip to Cowichan lake and back. Lets see, how I can manage it. See ya soon.
